Transaction Entry Calculations
This FAQ will go over the transaction entry calculation options in Paradigm ERP.

Calculations
Calculations can be done in the following fields while entering transactions: Pieces, Inches, Cost, and Sales Price.
This can be done on Quotes, Orders, Invoices, Request For Quotes, Purchase Orders, and Purchase Invoices.
The following signs can be used:
- + | Addition
- A space will also be treated as addition. A space must be used in the length columns, because the “+” and “-” keys are used for increment lengths already.
- – | Subtraction
- This cannot be used in the length column, because the “+” and “-” keys are used for increment lengths already.
- * | Multiplication
- / | Division
- This will also be used for fractions (i.e. 5 5/16″ will be converted to 5.3125 if entered in the inches column)
- This will also be used for fractions (i.e. 5 5/16″ will be converted to 5.3125 if entered in the inches column)
Examples
Converting Fractions to Decimals
Fractions can be converted to a decimal by simply entering the fraction.
“5 7/16” is converted to 5.4375

Multiplying Pieces
Another example would be if a customer is requesting something that is sold by the pieces, that is 18 pieces per square and they need to do 32.5 squares:
18 * 32.5 = 585

Screw Calculator
Another example would be to calculate the amount of screws needed. If 2,350 LF of panels were being sold and 1.8 screws are needed for each LF:
2,350 * 1.8 = 4,230 Screws
